My HOT Shot

Well, we went on an adventure last weekend, but NOT on the Harley! BURRRR! Mel had a two day Archery Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was so excited! I watch him shoot every night when he practices & go with him to leagues weekly, but this was my first Tournament! I love watching Mel shoot! Archery requires both a physical & mental strength. The concentration & focus that one must have is crucial.

Mel's first shoot at the Utah Open was scheduled for 10:00am Saturday. Getting up at 5:00am on a Saturday morning is not my idea of fun, but the excitement of the weekend ahead had us up and going ahead of schedule. We arrived at the Archery Range in Salt Lake a little before 9:00am to allow for some warm up shots. The Range was packed. I couldn't believe how many people were there. There were 80-100 men & women of all ages, shapes & sizes competing throughout the Tournament. They had come from all over the world. We met two men that had come all the way from The Netherlands to compete!

Sunday mornings shoot was at 8:00am so we were up & going early once again. Not that we got that much sleep anyway. For whatever reason a woman in a Camaro couldn't seem to decide whether to come or go all night long & kept getting her car stuck in the snow packed parking lot of the motel.

Excitement was in the air at the Archery Range! Today's score combined with yesterday's decided the best of the best in each flight. Mel seemed to be on fire! He finished Sunday's shoot with a 298 out of 300. Combined with Saturday's score he had placed 1st in his flight! Needless to say we were very excited.

We'll keep you posted how the season goes. The Idaho Open is this coming weekend in Pocatello, Idaho & there are a couple tournaments scheduled in January. We will be heading to Las Vegas, Nevada in February & will have LOTS of pictures & stories to tell!

Congrats Mel!! and Sandra of course - what a supportive other half you are. Sounds like you two are in for quite a "ride" albeit not on the back of a Harley (damn it!!)
